PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refueling machine, capable of accurately working for exchanging fuel assemblies and preventing falling or derailment, even with respect to earthquakes. SOLUTION: A controller 26 controls in normal running polarity the switching of a bridge driving linear motor which drives a bridge 6 and a trolley driving linear motor driving a trolley 7. When an earthquake wave is detected, the polarity-switching control is terminated, and a constant suction forces are generated between each of stator side coils 1 and 3 and mover side coils 2 and 4 of the bridge driving linear motor and the trolley driving linear motor. Using this method, the bridge 6 and the trolley 7 are fixed, and the hazards of moving and falling of the bridge 6 and the trolley 7 by earthquakes is prevented.
