PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing device that can record a broadcast program whose recording has been first set even when the start time of the broadcast program having been reserved is shifted due to a night game or a special program. SOLUTION: The recording and reproducing device records program information contents D1 where opening music is broadcast at the head of a broadcast program, and is provided with a tuner 4, a hard disk drive 6 having a prescribed recording capacity to record and reproduce the program information contents D1 received by the tuner 4, an operation section 21 that is operated to set a recording start time t1 of the program information contents D1 recorded at least on the hard disk driver 6, and a controller 5 that samples in advance opening music information D2 from the opening music of the broadcast program and calculates a recording end time t2 on the basis of program televising music information D2' at the recording start time t1 and the opening music information D2 having been sampled in advance after starting the recording of the broadcast program at the recording start time t1 with the operation section 21.
