PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital broadcast receiver that can inform a viewer about whether a transmission station stops transmission of a program or the digital broadcast receiver is faulty when the digital broadcast receiver cannot receive the program. SOLUTION: A stream demultiplexer section 103 demultiplexes a program information table (s-EIT) from a transport stream, writes it to an EIT storage section 111 of a memory 108 and informs an OSD processing control section 109 about it. The OSD processing control section 109 discriminates whether the value of a program identifier of the s-EIT is a prescribed value and, when the value is the prescribed value, discriminates the program to be at a halt and writes program pause information such as a broadcast time to a halt information storage section 110. When the halted program (channel) is selected, a message included in the program halt information is displayed during the broadcast time.
