PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel for a fuel cell system, which produces a greater electric power per unit weight, produces a greater electric power for a certain quantity of CO2 generated, has a low rate of fuel consumption, produces little evaporation gas (evapoemission), can maintain the initial performance for a long time with little deterioration of a fuel cell system such as a catalyst for reforming, a catalyst for a water gas shift reaction, a catalyst for removing carbon monoxide, and a fuel cell stack, has good storage stability and good handleability in respect of the flash point or the like, and requires less quantity of heat for preheating. SOLUTION: The fuel for a fuel cell system contains a hydrocarbon oil in an amount of at least 5 vol.% based on the total fuel, and an oxygen compound in an amount of 0.5-20 mass%, in terms of oxygen element, based on the total fuel, wherein the hydrocarbon compound has such distillation characteristics as an initial boiling point in distillation of 100-190 deg.C, a 10 vol.% running temperature of 120-210 deg.C, a 95 vol.% running temperature of 220-300 deg.C, and a distillation end point of 230-320 deg.C. |
