PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel for a fuel cell system, which produces a greater electric power per unit weight, produces a greater electric power for a certain quantity of CO2 generated, has a low rate of fuel consumption, produces little evaporation gas (evapoemission), can maintain the initial performance for a long time with little deterioration of a fuel cell system such as a catalyst for reforming, a catalyst for a water gas shift reaction, a catalyst for removing carbon monoxide, and a fuel cell stack, has good storage stability and good handleability in respect of the flash point or the like, and requires less quantity of heat for preheating. SOLUTION: The fuel for a fuel cell system comprises a hydrocarbon compound having a saturated matter content of at least 70 vol.%, an aromatic matter content of at most 30 vol.%, an olefin content of at most 4 vol.%, a naphthene content of at most 35 vol.%, and an initial boiling point in distillation of 100 deg.C or higher. |
