PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate scarcely deteriorating with exposure to intense light from a light source and further to provide a liquid crystal display device using the same, in particular a liquid crystal projector. SOLUTION: A polarizing film composed of a polyvinyl alcohol based film having a dichroic dye adsorbed and aligned thereon with >=4 μm adsorption thickness of the dichroic dye on the cross section of the film is provided. Also the liquid crystal display device having the polarizing film arranged on at least one side surface of a liquid crystal cell and further the liquid crystal projector having the polarizing film arranged on at least one side surface of at least a liquid crystal cell are provided. In the liquid crystal projector, the polarizing film is effectively used for an incident side polarizing plate 8B and for a light- emitting side polarizing plate 9B arranged on a liquid crystal panel 7B, corresponding to blue light B with especially high light energy, keeping intervals therefrom. |
