PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an AC generator that suppresses the cooling efficiency drop of a fan caused by arranging side plates, that has small air noise, and that has excellent cooling, by making the outside circumference of a ventilating path comprising a base part and side plates larger than its inside circumference. SOLUTION: A fan 30 is provided with an annular base 31, a plurality of blades 32 arranged in the circumferential direction in such a way as to stand from the main surface 31a on the circumferential end side of the base 31, and annular side plates 33 that are fixed to the end of the axial direction of a plurality of the blades 32 in such a way that the main surfaces 31a of the side plates 33 face the main surface 31a to constitute a ventilating path 35 between these side plates 33 and the base 31. A recessed step 33b is formed on the outside circumferential side of the main surfaces 33a of the side plates 33, and the outside circumference side of the ventilating path 35 is made larger than its inside circumferential side.
