PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight and low-cost commutator motor capable of operating efficiently, and provided with a brush assembly having a thermal protector. SOLUTION: Lightweight, low-cost, and low-conductive steel sheet made of zinc plated iron forms a brush holder 7. With a spring 8 sandwiched, a carbon brush 5 and a highly conductive brush cap 8 made of bronze are connected with a pigtail 6 to form the main conducting path of the brush assembly 4. The brush 5, the pigtail 6, and the spring 10 are contained inside the holder 7. This holder 7, the cap 8 and the thermal protector 8 are mounted on a holder insulator 11 made of phenol resin to assemble the brush assembly 4. The holder 7 and the protector connecting part of the cap 8 are kept in an electrically non-contact state with an insulating wall 11a. Heat generation is restrained by removing the holder 7 out of the main conducting path of an AC motor 1 made of a stator assembly 2, a commutator 9, a rotor 24 and the brush assembly 4. |
