PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent detection accuracy from lowering in the case of detecting a skew angle from a Haugh space when Haugh transform is applied to a binary input image that includes an image element such as a photographing image or a dot image. SOLUTION: First a Haugh transform section 41 applies Haugh transform to HIGH pixels in received contour binary image data and gives its arithmetic result to a Haugh space data storage section 44. Then a Haugh space data arithmetic projection section 42 sequentially reads the data stored in the Haugh space data storage section 44, applies a prescribed arithmetic operation to the read data and sequentially gives the arithmetic result to an arithmetic projection data storage section 45. Then an angle detection section 43 sequentially reads frequency arithmetic data stored in the arithmetic projection data storage section 45, obtains a maximum value of the read data and detects an angle at which the data takes the maximum value as a skew angle. |
