PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless identification tag that is provided with a reader 12 and transponders whose information is read by the reader. SOLUTION: The reader is provided with a recovery circuit 32 that recovers and separates an upper side band 26.12 and a lower side band 26.11 of a modulation response signal 26.1 from one of the transponders. The reader is also provided with an evaluation circuit 38 that evaluates the upper side band and the lower side band for output to a next stage and selects either of the upper side band or the lower side band on the basis of the evaluation.
