PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a map data inquiry system to enable easy exchange of map image data among users of terminals via a communication network such as the Internet. SOLUTION: A map data base server 1, when receiving a URL including an intrinsic point mark from the terminal via the communication network, provides the map image data or detailed information in addition to it regarding a registered point corresponding to the intrinsic point mark to the terminal at a transmitting origin via the network.
