PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a target vessel that can easily scatter neutrons at a low temperature, preventing problems in handling of a target material, without causing a high-temperature range in the target material whose tips are rolled up in the target container, which is used in a neutron scattering device and stows the target material made of a liquid metal and the like. SOLUTION: A pair of partition plates divide the flow of the target material into supply flow channels, which is closer to the both sides and a recovery flow channel in the central part. The positions of the tips of both partition plates are made to differ; for example, the difference in the distance is made to a beam window between the tip of one of the pair of the partition plates and that of the other by making the position of the tip of one of them closer to the beam window part than the other of them; and the flow of the target material, which returns at the tip of each partition plate to the central side, is made asymmetric, whereby the occurrence of stagnation in the flow of the target material due to a swirl flow is restrained, and the generation of the high-temperature range caused by the stagnation is prevented.
