PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce blowing sounds and power consumption of a blower motor without increasing the capacity of space for installing an evaporator 1a. SOLUTION: A pair of cores 8a and 8a comprising a plurality of heat transfer pipe elements 4a and 4a having upstream side passages 21a (downstream side passages 21b) for making a refrigerant flow inside and fins 12 and 12, and a tank 16b stretched between one ends of the cores 8a and 8a in a longitudinal direction, are provided. When the evaporator 1a is used, the refrigerant sent into the tank 16 is made to flow through interiors of the cores 8a and 8a and then is taken out of the tank 16. At least part of air for air conditioning blown inside a pair of the cores is made to pass in thickness directions of the cores 8a and 8a and blown out of the cores 8a and 8a.
