The system for mechanical cleaning is used for a mould into which concrete is poured for forming plates, bridge components or foundation piles. The mould (1) has a base (3), upstanding side walls (4) and upright end walls (5). The system has devices for humidifying the mould and a cleaning unit (2) which can move along the mould. The cleaning unit comprises a frame or chassis (7) provided with two shafts (8) on which wheels (9) are fitted. The wheels are preferably of plastic to achieve an optimal grip. Electric motors (10) move the unit forward and are connected by belts or chains with the shafts. The motors have a brake, so that the unit when necessary can be very rapidly brought to a halt. For control of the various functions of the unnit, an operating console (12) is provided, behind which is a seat (13) for an operator.
