The invention relates to a method for the polycondensation of organic silico n compounds at pH values between 6 and 8 in the presence of a lipase, said lipase being optionally immobilised on a carrier consisting of polymer materials. Suitable polycondensable organic silicon compounds are (RO)(R1O)(R2O)(R3O)Si, (RO)(R1O)(R2O)(R3O)SiR3, (RO)(R1O)Si(R2)(R3) and (RO)SiR1R2R3 with R, R1, R2 and R3 independently representing C1- to C10- alkyl, C3- to C10-cycloalkyl, C4- to C20-alkylcycloalkyl, aryl, C6- to C16- alkylaryl, the alkyl groups being linear or branched. It is advantageous tha t the lipase can be obtained relatively easily by means of large-scale fermentation processes. Lipases from Pseudomona species are preferable.</SDO AB>
