The driver circuit provides a driver voltage applied to each anode and each control electrode of a number of evacuated fluorescent image screen tubes, in accordance with dynamic image data for the image to be displayed, which is read out from a memory (1c), using respective driver stages (2A 1,2A 2) for providing the anode and control electrode driver voltages. The driver voltages applied to the anodes can be varied in dependence on the image contrast values represented by the dynamic image data.
