A safety razor (201,400) has a head (202,403) holding on a first side a blade system (204,407) having a first cutting edge (105) facing in a first direction, and a second cutting edge (107) facing in a second direction, the first and second directions forming an included angle of less 180 degrees or less facing away from the first side, and a handle attaching to the head on a second side opposite the first side. The arrangement allows a user to shave bi-directionally without having to rotate the handle through a large angle, and without having to hold the hand or arm in an uncomfortable position. In some embodiments the handle is attached pivotally to either the head as a single element or two separate head elements, each holding one blade.
