A method and system for generating video broadcast data in which trigger data is inserted into a datastream of a programme to be broadcast. Also described is a method and system for processing video braodcast data. The programme datastream including the trigger data is received and the trigger data is extracted. A user prompt is provided, and if the user responds to the prompt is provided, and if the user responds to the prompt a trigger index value extracted from the trigger data is transmitted to a redirect server. The redirect server contains look-up tables from which a corresponding website address is read off, and communicated back to the receiver. The receiver can then access the website address, which is associated with the programme that contained the trigger data. Application to broadcasting systems complying with the DVB, MPEG-2 and ATVEF standards is described.
