This invention relates to use of receptors for endostatin, e.g., glypicans, that bind endostatin and mediate, partially or wholly, its action. The invention relates to the use of these receptors as well as the specific saccharide moieties of glypicans which act as binding sites for endostatin receptors for the development and screening of angiogenic agents, including endostatin agonists and antagonists.
