<p>A cryogenic processor (10) is provided for liquid feed preparation of a free-flowing frozen product. The cryogenic processor (10) includes a freezing chamber (12) having a substantially conical shape, at least one feed tray (48) overlying the freezing chamber (12) arranged and adapted to receive liquid composition from a delivery source (50), the tray (48) having a plurality of orifices (44) for discharge of uniformly sized droplets of the composition from the feed tray (48), whereby the droplets are delivered by gravity into the freezing chamber (12) therebelow. The cryogenic processor (10) also includes at least one sensor (66) associated with the feed tray (48) for determining a depth of liquid composition in the feed tray (48), at least one valve associated with a liquid composition delivery line (52), the valve being configured to control the rate at which liquid composition is delivered from the delivery source (50) to the feed tray (48) and a controller responsive (68) to the at least one sensor for controlling a position of the valve, and therefore the rate at which liquid composition is delivered from the delivery source (50) to the feed tray (48).</p> |
