The digital filter (8) has a filter length which is altered in dependence on the variable input clock frequency (f in) of the digital input signal fed to the filter, without altering the ratio between the input clock frequency and the output clock frequency (f aus) of the filtered digital output signal. The filter can be assembled from filter modules with a filter coefficient circuit, supplying filter coefficients to a multiplier, combining the filter coefficients with the input data signal at the signal input of the filter module.
