PURPOSE: A system and a method for extracting a soft symbol in a direct sequence spectrum spread communication are provided to extract the soft symbol of an information channel from a sample stream in a CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) rake IC receiver. CONSTITUTION: Each of finger channels(104,106,108) includes a dot product unit(122) having the first input which receives partial I and Q accumulation, the second input which receives a pilot estimation value, and an output which provides a partial symbol. Each of finger channels(104,106,108) has a variable accumulator(128) having the first input connected to an output of the dot product unit(122) for receiving the partial symbol, the second input which receives an accumulation period command, and an output responds to the accumulation period command and provides a soft symbol accumulated at a uniform rate.
