A photographic material comprising a support and at least one at least one layer which comprises at least one spectrally sensitised silver halide emulsion, characterised in that the material contains at least one compound of formula wherein X denotes sulphur or selenium, R1 denotes aryl or heterocyclyl, R2 denotes alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, aralkyl or hetarylalkyl, R3 denotes alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, aralkyl, hetaryl or hetarylalkyl, and R4 denotes H, alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, aralkyl, hetaryl or hetaralkyl, or R3, together with R4, denotes the remaining atoms of a carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring, is distinguished by increased spectral sensitivity, a high sensitivity/fogging ratio and a good shelf life under humid conditions.
