A pair of surface acoustic wave (SAW) sensors (7,8) are arranged on a bearing capsule such that the angle between the sensors is 90 deg . Each sensor has a pair of resonance elements (11,12) for generation and detection of surface acoustic wave on the basis of mechanical stresses or other physical influences at the bearing capsule. An Independent claim is also included for measurement procedure using SAW sensors.
