The invention relates to a data carrier comprising a security element which can be at least visually checked and which comprises embossing in at least one partial area. Said embossing is a half-tone blind embossing carried out by means of colourfast gravure printing. The invention also relates to a method for producing the data carrier, and a printing plate for blind embossing a security element.
