PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for processing input dat of a vocoder are provided to perform multichannel vocoding to prevent a host processor from being overloaded and to increase the number of channels per vocoding module. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus and a method for processing input dat of a vocoder between a PSTN network and ATM/LAN network includes a timer(22), an IRQ vector table(21), a plurality of DSP ICs(23), an interface(25), and a memory(24). The timer generates periodic interrupt, and the IRQ vector table distributes the interrupt. The DSP ICs perform encoding and decoding of data when the vector table assigns the interrupt to the ICs. The interface interfaces data between the DSP ICs and ATM/LAN network or PSTN network, and the memory stores the data. |
