Detector of a luminosity threshold for controlling a public lighting system

The device comprises a sensor (2) measuring the intensity of the ambient illumination at a chosen site. The intensity of light is compared with a reference signal in an electronic comparator unit (7). The sensor is at least one infra-red photo-diode centred on the wavelength around 950 nm. The sensor is directed toward the sky and is covered by a hemispherical enclosure (1) which is transparent to the wavelengths being considered. The output of the comparator is used to control electronic switches (8) which control public lighting luminaires (10).
