By designating a Young's modulus in the traverse direction (TD) of a non-magnetic substrate (base film) to be more than 15.6 GN/m<2> and less than 19.6 GN/m<2>, a tape damage, which is possibly given to a magnetic tape while the magnetic tape is running, can be reduced.
