A bonding insert material mounting method includes the following steps. A bonding insert material having projections of a suitable shape formed on an outer periphery thereof at predetermined intervals is held by half-splittable holding means 1 into which joining members P can be inserted in such a manner that the projections 2a are held by the holding means 1 and that the bonding insert material 2 is disposed at that area of the holding means 1 into which the joining members P can be inserted. One end of the holding means 1 on an end of one of the joining members P is fitted so that one side of the bonding insert material 2 is abutted against an end surface of the one joining member P. An end of the other joining member P is inserted into the other end of the holding means 1, so that the end of the other joining member P is abutted against the other side of the bonding insert material 2 with a predetermined pressing force.
