PURPOSE: To realize reproduction full of variety from data recorded in multiple channels. CONSTITUTION: On a recording medium 1, TOC information is recorded in the starting point followed by recording of information from track 1 or track 5. In each track, video data, audio data, and superimposed data are recorded each in multiple channels and in time-division multiplexed recording. As one piece of TOC information, or in the beginning of each block of the video data, audio data and superimposed data, a default value concerning the synthesizing method of multiple channels is recorded.
