PURPOSE: An ophthalmic pharmaceutical composition comprising trehalose as an effective ingredient and a pharmaceutically-acceptable carrier is provided which is safe and continuously used in ophthalmologic clinical symptoms and Sjogren's syndrome(dry eye, dry mouse) for a long period time. CONSTITUTION: This ophthalmic pharmaceutical composition comprises at least 0.01% by weight of trehalose as an effective ingredient and a pharmaceutically-acceptable carrier such as saccharides, electrolytes, amino acids, lipids, adjuvant and medicine. For example, 3.5gα,α-trehalose, 0.4g sodium chloride, 0.15g potassium chloride, 0.2g sodium dihydrogen phosphate, 0.15g boron and remaining water to make 100ml can be used as additives for a common method.
