The coupling consists of a sleeve (10) which fits over the ends of the two tubes, made with a lengthwise slit (14) and two assembly lips (12a,12b) joined by a fixing (16,18). It also has an inner seal ring (24), located inside the sleeve to surround the meeting ends of the two tubes and made from a rolled flat strip of material with two free edges (26a,26b) which meet when the ring is inside the sleeve. The seal ring's two free edges extend transversely relative to the lengthwise dimension of the strip. One of them has a deformable zone (28) across the whole width of the strip which enables the ring to contract as the sleeve is tightened. The deformable zone can be formed, for example, from one or more perforations or sections of reduced thickness. |
