PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve thermal aging resistance and breaking characteristics of a vulcanized rubber of a rubber composition without lowering adhesive properties of a rubber to a metal. SOLUTION: The rubber composition comprises 100 pts.wt. of a vulcanizable raw material rubber, at least 50 pts.wt. of a reinforcing filler, 5-15 pts.wt. of zinc oxide, 0.1-10 pts.wt. of an organic acid cobalt salt and 4-20 pts.wt. in total of a sulfur compound (A) represented by formula (I): -(SxR1)n- (wherein x is a number of 2-6 in average; n is an integer of 1-100; and R1 is an organic group) and sulfur (B) in a weight ratio of (A)/(B) of at least 0.8.
