PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a 2,4-oxazolidinedione in high yield by using raw materials which are obtainable relatively easily. SOLUTION: At first, a hydrogen halogenide is allowed to act on a mixture of a cyanohydrin of general formula (I) and an alcohol of general formula (II) to obtain a mixture containing an amide of general formula (III). Subsequently, a dialkyl carbonate of general formula (IV) and a metallic alkoxide of general formula (V) are allowed to act on the resulting reaction mixture. Thus, 2,4-oxazolidinedione of general formula (VI) can be manufactured in high yield.
