PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily producing a 9,10-diphenylanthracene derivative on an industrial scale. SOLUTION: A 9,10-diphenylanthracene derivative is produced by reacting an anthracene derivative having electron attractive groups at 9 and 10 positions and optionally having a substituent with benzene optionally having a substituent in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst.
