PURPOSE: Provided is an oral composition containing Ulmi Cortex extract, Achyranthes japonica extract or the mixture thereof for treatment of periodontal diseases. It inhibits the generation of superoxide, PGE2, interleukin-1 beta, as well as collagenase, while promoting the synthesis of collagen protein. CONSTITUTION: An oral composition for treatment of periodontal diseases is characterized by containing Ulmi Cortex extract which is obtained by using an extract solvent selected from the group consisting of water, methanol, ethanol, propanol and butanol, in the amount of 0.01-5 wt.%. It further contains Achyranthes japonica extract.
