PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly protect an occupant regardless of physical constitution of the occupant. SOLUTION: This air bag device is provided with an air bag body 3 for protecting the occupant by expanding toward the occupant side inside a vehicle compartment due to pressure gas. The air bag body 3 is provided with an internal pressure adjusting means 13 which comprises: an exhaust port 11 for exhausting the pressure gas inside the air bag body 3: and open/close mechanism 12 operating depending on the physical constitution. When the occupant with large body frame abuts against the air bag body 3, the open/close mechanism 12 operating depending on the physical constitution closes and deforms the exhaust port 11. When the occupant with poor body frame abuts against the air bag body 3, the open/close mechanism 12 operating depending on the physical constitution holds the exhaust port 11 open.
