PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a catalyst for decomposing ammonia, which exhibits high activity even at a low temperature range of <=250 deg.C and has the ability to maintain its activity, thereby it can be continuously used and with which ammonia can be decomposed at a low cost with small amounts of by-products such as NOX, and to provide a method for decomposing ammonia using the catalyst. SOLUTION: The catalyst useful for decomposing ammonia contains an Mn-Cu-based complex oxide and/or Mn-Fe-based complex oxide and a ruthenium compound. The method for decomposing ammonia is characterized in that a gas containing ammonia is treated by using the catalyst. |
