PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeding cassette having a mechanism reducing the occurrence of a fluctuation in a press force during feeding of paper sheets by decreasing a press force, being high approximately during loading of the paper sheets and capable of stably feeding paper sheets. SOLUTION: The paper feeding cassette has a system that a push-up plate 4, having an oscillating fulcrum provided at a cassette body 1, is energized upward through the force of a pressure spring 3 arranged below the push-up plate, and paper sheets loaded on the push-up plate 4 are forced into pressure contact with a paper feed roller 2 and a topmost paper sheet 6a is fed. A friction member 10 and a spring 11 are respectively arranged at a front in a paper feeding direction in a state to nip the push-up plate 4. The friction member 10 gives a rub against the two sides of the push-up plate 4 in the oscillating range of the push-up plate 4, that is, in a rang from a push-up plate oscillating angleθmin during full loading to an arbitrary angleθA of the oscillating range. A friction force TC generated by the friction member 10 and the push-up plate 4 acts in a direction in which a press force T is disturbed.
