METHOD FOR TREATING HARDLY DECOMPOSABLE ORGANIC MATTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clean wastewater by oxidizing organic matter contained in wastewater by hydroxyl radicals or the like formed by a catalyst excited by electric pulses to perform flocculation and sedimentation treatment. SOLUTION: Wastewater to be treated is allowed to flow through an oxidizing treatment tank and electric pulses are applied across the anode and cathode arranged in the oxidizing treatment tank and the catalyst arranged between the anode and the cathode is activated by the electric pulses to reduce oxygen in the wastewater within the treatment tank to generate active oxygen such as hydrogen peroxide, hydroxyl radicals or the like and inorganic ions or organic matter in the wastewater are oxidized by active oxygen and, in a flocculation and sedimentation tank of a rear stage, flocculation and sedimentation treatment is performed to sediment and separate the oxidized organic matter.
