PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter which collects and removes carbonaceous particulates contained in exhaust gas, especially in the diesel engine exhaust gas. SOLUTION: A container is filled with aggregates of spherical fine particles containing magnetic spherical fine particles of at least 10% or more. The preferable particle size of the magnetic spherical fine particles is in a range of 1-500μm. The flow resistance of the exhaust gas becomes larger when the particle size is smaller than 1μm, and the surface areas of the aggregates become smaller resulting in lowering the collecting efficiency of the carbonaceous fine particles, when the particle size is larger than 500μm. Any well known magnet such as a rare earth/iron magnet, a neodymium/iron/boron magnet, an Alnico magnet and a ferrite magnet can be utilized, and the neodymium/iron/boron magnet having the highest magnetic property is most preferred. The neodymium/ iron/boron magnet is plated with nickel on the surface when used, since the magnet is oxidized readily in the atmosphere of the diesel engine exhaust gas containing nitrogen oxides.
|
