PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an appreciable cut surface without leaving an edge-shaped scar and causing a scratch in cutting a flowing sheet with a cutting edge. SOLUTION: On a winding machine for winding up a continuously flowing sheet S or an unwinding machine, when the flowing sheet S is cut with a cutting edge 3, the cutting edge 3 is run substantially synchronously with the flowing sheet S and at the same time linearly thrust in the sheet at substantially right angles to cut the sheet.
