There is described the use of indoline derivatives of formulawhereinR1 is hydrogen; C1-C5alkyl; C1-C18alkoxy; or halogen;R2 is C1-C8alkyl; C5-C7cycloalkyl; C6-C10aryl;R3 is C1-C18alkyl or a radical of formulaR4 is hydrogen; or a radical of formulaR5 is C1-C18alkoxy; or a radical of formulaR6 and R7 are each independently of the other hydrogen; or C1-C5alkyl;R8 is hydrogen; C1-C5alkyl; C5-C7cycloalkyl; phenyl; phenyl-C1-C3alkyl;R9 is C1-C18alkyl;X is halogen; a radical of formulan is 0; or 1,as light-protective agents.
