PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the productivity of cold-rolling and the surface quality of a metallic strip. SOLUTION: A 1st WC work roll which is ground, a 1st WC work roll the coating film of which is ground and a 2nd WC work roll which is ground, a 2nd WC work roll the coating film of which is ground are prepared (a1), the 1st and 2nd WC work rolls are respectively mounted to the 1st and 4th stands 8, 11 of a cold tandem mill 3 (a2) and the cold tamdem rolling of a stainless steel strip is carried out (a3). Whether the width of a succeeding material is larger than the width of a preceding material or not is judged (a4), the cold tandem rolling is continued when the width of the succeeding material is not larger than the width of the preceding material, the 1st and 2nd WC work rolls the coating films of which are ground are mounted on the 1st and 4th stands when the width of the succeeding material is larger than the width of the preceding material (a5) and the cold tandem rolling is performed (a6).
