PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an optically active fluorine-containing β- hydroxyester, by which the optically active fluorine-containing β-hydroxyester useful as a medicine, an agrochemical, or the like can be obtained in high purity and in a high yield, and to provide an optically active fluorine-containing 2-hydroxyalkanauride and/or an optically active fluorine containing alcohol. SOLUTION: This method for producing the optically active fluorine-containing β- hydroxyester, characterized by subjecting a 2,2-difluoro-3-ketoester of the general formula (1) or a 3-perfluoroalkyl-3-ketoester of the general formula (5) to an asymmetric hydrogenation reaction using a transition metal catalyst such as a rhodium complex having an optically active ligand of the general formula (2) to obtain the optically active fluorine-containing β-hydroxyester of the general formula (3) or (6) (R1 and R2 are identical or different each other, may together form a ring, and are each an aliphatic or alicyclic hydrocarbon, an aryl or an aralkyl; R3 to R6 are identical or different each other, may together form a ring, and are each an aliphatic or alicyclic hydrocarbon, an aryl or an aralkyl; Rf is a perfluoroalkyl). |
