PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an ink jet recorder in size, to improve a maintenance property and to lower an amount of non-used ink to be discarded in replacement. SOLUTION: A first ink cartridge is equipped with a first head section and a first ink containing section for containing ink of a first color. The first head section has a first ink ejection nozzle group for ejecting the ink of the first color. A second cartridge is equipped with a second head section and second and third ink containing sections for containing inks of second and third colors, respectively. A second ink ejection nozzle group for ejecting the ink of second color and a third ink ejection nozzle group for ejecting the ink of third color are provided to the second head section in series. The first cartridge and the second cartridge are mounted on a carriage. As the black cartridge having a high use frequency and the color cartridge are independently provided, the maintenance property can be improved and the amount of non-used ink to be discarded in the replacement of the cartridge can be lowered. |
