PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a soft supporting rod for receiving a paper sheet pile with a paper sheet treatment machine, offering simple construction causing little wear. SOLUTION: The supporting rod 10 has a flexible tensile member 11. The tensile member 11 supports a number of thrusting members 12 constituting contact faces 18, 19, arranged in mutual lines at one side. These thrusting members contact each other at the contact faces 18, 19 when the tensile member 11 is supported at two points and a load imposed from the side of the thrusting member 12 toward the tensile member 11 occurs between these supporting points.
