PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phosphorus-based flame retardant which contains no halogen atom, has excellent flame retardancy, proves to be less toxic during combustion, maintain its intrinsic physical features, heat resistance, and humidity resistance, and is less restrained in molding methods, molding conditions, and uses. SOLUTION: The flame retardant for a resin has as its main ingredient a salt comprising an aromatic phosphoric ester such as monophenyl phosphate and monotolyl phosphate and an aliphatic amine such as piperazine.
