PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly protect an occupant regardless of physical constitution of the occupant. SOLUTION: This air bag device is provided with an air bag body 3 for protecting the occupant by expanding toward the occupant side inside a vehicle compartment due to pressure gas. The air bag body 3 is provided with an internal pressure adjusting means 16 which comprises: an exhaust port 12 for exhausting the pressure gas inside the air bag body 3: an exhaust restraining mechanism 13 for restraining exhaust from the exhaust port 12 by approaching/ separating in a direction outside a surface of the air bag body 3; and a physical constitution responding mechanism 15 which operates the exhaust restraining mechanism 13 by cutting a cut part 14 when an internal pressure of the air bag body 3 exceeds a predetermined value by abutting of the occupant against the air bag body 3.
