PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the possibility that a tacky adhesive layer and rear surface layer partly remain on underwear when the rear surface layer 12 is peeled after being secured to the underwear across the tacky adhesive layer as the surface strength and rupture strength (interpaper strength) in a thickness direction of the rear surface layer 12 of an absorptive article are degraded when the rear surface layer 12 is generally enhanced in waiter solubility. SOLUTION: The absorptive article 1 has the water-soluble rear surface layer 12, a liquid permeable front surface layer 10 and an absorption layer 11 held between the rear surface layer 12 and the front surface layer 10. The rear surface layer 12 is formed of a fiber sheet containing water-dispersible fibers and water-insoluble carboxymethylcellulose. The rate of the etherification (D.S) of the water-insoluble carboxymethylcellulose is 0.3 to 0.6 and the hydrogen of >=95% carboxylic acid is substituted with metal in the water-insoluble carboxymethylcellulose. The rear surface layer 12 is excellent in water solubility, has the high surface strength and the rupture strength in the thickness direction and hardly allows part of the tacky adhesive layer and the rear surface layer to remain at the underwear when peeling the layer from the underwear.
